Description
75% of all acquisitions fail in today’s business environment. Research
indicates that from a business and people perspective, the first 90 days of
an acquisition are critical to its success. At ADP BSG, our prior experience
has been mixed at best; some have been highly successful from a “people
perspective” and others have been abysmal failures. Some of the businesses
we have recently sold, while others have quadrupled in revenue and NOI.
In response to the above, we gathered a group of
associates from all acquisitions undertaken the past 10 years and locked
them in a room to determine what works and what does not from a people
perspective. What did we do right and what could have been accomplished
better, faster, and cheaper, while engaging the new associates to add value
and help the business grow—that was our goal.
The result was a cultural acquisition team and
integration concept that indoctrinates newly acquired associates into the
organization and shows them they are welcome and have a future in the
organization. It includes a series of presentations as to Employer-of-Choice
benefits, Change Management Sessions to assist with the adjustment process,
a Buddy/Mentoring program and OVER COMMUNICATION by the GM and key
leadership personnel. Also included are measurements to gauge success and
the creation of a strong, customer focused HR function to act as change
agent.
